Timothy Kelly Obituary

Timothy Patrick Kelly, beloved father and cherished brother, died on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68. His devoted daughter, Caroline, was by his side and throughout his illness. He was the son of the late Michael J. Kelly and Mary Gertrude Ryan.
Tim was born in Pittsfield, MA and has been a resident of Portland, ME for over 30 years.  Tim was a 1975 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield, where he was a proud member of the State Championship Ice Hockey team in 1973. He graduated as Postgraduate from The Berkshire School, Sheffield, MA in 1976.   He was a graduate of MCLA North Adams, MA in 1980 and awarded a degree in Sociology.  After college, Tim had a successful career in sales and marketing in the Boston and Portland news outlets. He was most recently employed at Blue Lobster Maine Trees in Portland.  His lifelong love of hockey continued as he skated in the Seniors Hockey League in Portland. Tim was also an avid runner having qualified and completed seven Boston Marathons.
Tim is survived by his loving daughter, Caroline Faye Kelly of Portland, ME who was his dedicated caregiver in the end.
Tim will be sorely missed by his siblings: Cathie Sparks, Patricia Harrison (Shaun), Margaret Loehr (John), John Kelly (Ellen), Jane Flynn (Michael), Maureen McGoldrick (Michael) and Nora Allen (William). He is also survived by his former wife, Diana Morse Interland. Also missing him are his nieces, nephews, lifelong school friends and a special group of his buddies and teammates in Portland. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Alan B. Sparks.

 A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Lee.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee.  Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee.
The family would like to thank the exceptional care of Dr. Eric Jacobsen of Dana Farber Medical Center, Dr. Charles Morris of Maine Medical Center and the wonderful, caring staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the 7C wing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Jimmy Fund Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
