Walter H. Peltier Jr., 93, a longtime resident of Lee, passed away on Thursday, October 28th after a brief illness.
Walter was born in 1928, the son of Walter and Viola Burnham Peltier of Becket, MA and spent his childhood in that town. After graduating from Chester High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and was stationed at Anacostia Air Base in Washington, D.C. He was honorably discharged in 1948. After leaving the Navy Walter worked for General Electric in Pittsfield and later for Mead Specialty Paper in Lee until his retirement in 1989.
Walter married Mayme Pasini in 1954 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage together prior to her passing in 2020.
Walter was an avid golfer who played in the men’s league at Greenock Country Club in Lee. For many years, he and Mayme enjoyed visiting Naples, FL and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Walter is survived by his four children: Steven of Marietta, GA, Gary of Naples, FL, Douglas of Lee, MA and Carla Fyfe of Austin, TX. He is also survived by six grandchildren, his sister Faye Piergiovanni of Chester, MA and his brother Roger and his wife Mary of Washington, MA. He was predeceased by his sister Norma Cooper.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 5th at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
