Mr. William T. “Bill” Spence, 88, of Lenox Dale, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Lee HealthCare where he had resided for the past few months.
Bill was born on August 10, 1934, the son of Edward and Verda Mills Spence. He was raised and educated in Lee, graduating Lee High School, Class of the 1954.
The following year, Bill and his high school sweetheart, the former Beverly J. Cordonier, were married on September 24, 1955, at the Berkshire Hills Baptist Church by Pastor Clarence D. Kennedy. Together, they would share the Word of God for over 62 years.
Mr. Spence proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the reserves, being honorably discharged in 1963.
Bill worked at the Columbia Paper Mill in the film plant, Caligari’s Hardware Store and the Yankee Motor Lodge.
Mr. Spence was an outdoorsman who loved hiking, snowshoeing, hunting, and anything else which he could do with his wife at his side. Bill was a talented carpenter and built their home in Lenox Dale. He was lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Berkshire Hills Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, Beverly Spence, Bill leaves behind his sister-in-law, Carol Ann Wheeler, and many nieces, nephews, and friends and extended family members.
Funeral Services for Mr. William T. Spence will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023, 11AM at the Kelly Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Mann, presiding. A Visiting Hour will be held from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
